Delicious food, great wines, amazing scenery and the Big 6!
Imagine exploring the Mother City of South Africa, meandering your way along the Garden Route and its famous wine areas, exploring the southern hemisphere, having close and encounters with the dolphins and meerkats and looking for the Big 5. All of this combined with excellent food and wine as we will take you to some of the best restaurants. We personally think, this is the best way to enjoy South Africa.

It is in Cape Town that the Rainbow Nation really covers the spectrum. Between beautiful Cape Dutch homesteads, traditional dancers with painted faces performing in the streets, the smell of spicy Malay cooking and the taste of a well-made wine, this city will fill your senses, but we will show you more than the usual. We will not only take you up to Table Mountain, Boulders Beach, but also to African markets, for a gentle downhill walk to Cape Point and to an African restaurant for a meal with a drumming session and for sundowners on Signal Hill.

In the winelands we will visit some of the top estates where we will not only have the opportunity to taste South African wine, but we will compare them to some of the other new world wines as well. During the next 2 weeks you will visit 2 very unusual gardens; a Zen and succulent garden.  After leaving this amazing part of South Africa we will follow the R62 where the ever changing colours of the majestic mountains, scenic passes, rivers, vineyards and orchards, will offer you not only a scenic drive, but tranquillity as well.

Oudtshoorn is very famous for their ostriches and Cango Caves, but we will not only visit these attractions, but you will have a close encounter with the lovely meerkats as well and in the evening we will explore the amazing wonders of the southern Hemispheres.  We will also visit the Dreamcatcher community and their Streetkidz project and you may want to take part in a Cookup with Kamamma. This is your chance to share their recipes, stories, learn about their culture and taste their food.

Our journey to Knysna will follow a sharp narrow coastal belt of lakes, lagoons, deep gorges, ravines, rivers and streams, which run through luxuriant primeval forests filled with dense shrubbery and wild flowers, heath, creepers and ferns. We will stop of at Knysna where you may want to do some oyster tasting or cruise the lagoon.

Originally and rightly christened "Bahia Formosa" (beautiful bay) by early Portuguese explorers, Plettenberg Bay remains the jewel of the Garden Route. It's more than a village, less than a town. Today Plettenberg Bay remains tranquil and charming, hospitable and rather special. Spending time on the South Coast is magnificent as you not only will stay in a boutique hotel right on the sea, but you will have some great close encounters with dolphins and during the breading season possibly with ‘The Whales’ (aug-nov).  Moving away slightly from the sea, you will have the chance to explore an indigenous forest.

After having met the meerkats, ostriches and the baboons, it is now time to look for the Big 5. In the Eastern Cape we will stay in a wonderful Game Reserve and we will visit the 2 top reserves in the area. Not only that, you will cruise the river whilst enjoying cheese and wine to look out for the amazing bird life and visit their elephant conservation project.

Unfortunately after 14 days it will be time to return home, but we hope that we have given you    A Real Taste of South Africa!
